Vintage Postcard

  1. My favorite image is the picture in the O which is a picture of my family. My family is really important to me and thats the best picture of all of us together.
  2. I like how all the pictures all of things I really like. Everyone and everything in the picture are some of my favorite things in life.
  3. I think I could have improved upon making the photos a little more clear and filtered slightly better.
  4. A layer mask covers a portion of the layer and only reveals the part that you want. It's probably the most important tool to make a photo blend well together.

Web quest Reflection

I learned that techniques are really important to how photos are viewed. Many of the photos take multiple different techniques to be considered good. One of my favorite techniques to use is simplification. The simple photos with a lot of open space leaves the viewer to imagine what could fill the void. Simplification gives the viewer an easy and relaxing feel to the photo. I also like using leading lines with simplification because those usually goes hand in hand.

Still Life Photos

1. Chose these items because they all contrasted each other.
2. We used direct lighting on the subjects.
3. Did not adjust, just straight up all natural.
4. Could improve the composition if the angles were different and saw the items from different angles.

Surreal Photography TED Talk

  1. An important aspect is to have the photos have the same amount of lighting and and perspective to put all the photos all together. This helps give the photo the most realistic feature and makes it harder to distinguish.
  2. An interesting point that is made is how he is able to combine multiple photos into one and the amount of planning that is needed in order for him to execute the photos.

HDR Photography

HDR photography is the process of taking a photo at different shutter speeds to capture different shadows and colors of the same scene. Photos are then combined together to create a scene to show all these different features together.

One way to get a good HDR photo is to take multiple photos of the same scene. Each photo will show different parts of the same scene.

The second way to get a good HDR photo is to change the aperture each time you take a photo and that shows more shadows and focuses on different part of the picture.

The photo that impressed me the most is the photo of the escalator because it shows all the different vibrant colors of the globe. It shows the shadows and the colors all together.

1. My favorite shot is the photo of the tree bark.
2. The tree bark shows the most amount of elements of art.
3. Texture and unity if used on the tree bark photo.
4. The best shot with the filter is the tree bark with the canvas filter.

Exploring Landscapes

Favorite picture
1. Yes rule of thirds is used in the picture. The photo is emphasized with the sky.
2. Used variety and proportions in the photo.
3. The photo was shot at 11:30 Am. This was an okay time to shoot because the sun was not too harsh but it made it slightly difficult to avoid shadows.
4. The foreground is not emphasized as much as the background that is surrounding the school.
Edge Burn
 Channel Mixer
 Desaturation
 Gradient Map
Lab Color Method
1. The method that produced the best results was the Channel mixer because it gave a better dark color to the picture.
2. Channel Mixer gave the most range for the image. The channel mixer worked the best even though it was probably the most difficult.

Macro Lens

1. The macro lens was easy to use but it was slightly difficult to get a good photo with the sun behind my back and causing shade over the subject.
2. My favorite shot is the shot of the flower because it focuses on the petals and leads up to the center of the flower. The surrounding areas start to fade and become less focused.
3. The flower shot shows the best rule of thirds because the center of the flower is focused while it also is not fully focused on the center. The photo is split and makes the viewer's eyes look to the sides also.
4. There is emphasis and balance to the photo so that not everything is focused on the middle of the flower but emphasizes the presence of the center in the photo.

Cinemagraph

Cinemagraph Reflection:
1. The concept was filming Nick drinking water from the water fountain and the cinemagraph turned out well.
2. I was involved. I was the photographer and I helped others edit their video.
3. I would find a different object to film. Get more action that could be repeated more.
4. It was very straight forward. The only complication was when I was saving the gif, the video was too big and could not be saved under regular settings.
5. The dynamic was great. Everyone contributed to the execution of the video.

Photographing Water

1. It was easy to get the shot as long as the dropper was constant and accurate in the position.
2. With the flash, it was more exposed and you could see the water droplet more.

1. It was easy to get the shot because the photo was backlit and there was no fear of being too exposed.
2. I liked shooting without a flash because I did not have to worry about the photo being too exposed.

1. This was simple to photograph because there was no need to focus and as long as the drop was centered the photo turned out good.
2. The cons of shooting in burs mode is that there is a lot of unnecessary pictures that are taken when shooting and one can only hope to have a photo turn out good.

1. It was hard because we wanted the first shot to be good because the first drop showed the most out of the drop.
2. We had color below the jar that contrasted the water drop that we dropped for the photo.

Artificial Motion

6 Frame Action Narrative

Thirst Quencher
This is Jeff Wu drinking water in order to satisfy his thirst after working hard in PE.
  1. I used my Canon 550D with a 24mm lens. The burst mode was easy to use and the shutter speed was easy to manage.
  2. My favorite frame is the top right photo because it shows the moment right before Jeff is taking a sip of water and the action.
  3. It was interesting to see all the detail that a camera can capture in every frame. It really shows all the little details that one might miss if they were not to shoot in burst mode.
